Dimitris has a mixed background in operations and strategy. An Electrical Engineer with an MBA, he started his career in US in technology and then moved to management consulting in Southeastern Europe (BCG). After BCG and for the past 16 years he has held commercial, operational and strategy positions in Healthcare starting from Greece, then EMEA and then Global: Hygeia Group (Hospitals - Operations), AstraZeneca (Pharma-Marketing and Sales), Novartis (Pharma-Enterprise strategy) and for the past 10 years Alcon (commercial, operations and transformation).
In his current role, Dimitris is responsible for Alcon's enterprise transformation programs and the operation of Alcon's Global Service centres, a 2,5k associates organization. Previously, Dimitris has successfully led the creation, transformation and establishment of GEM (Growth and Export Markets, a global region including all small and medium-sized markets) as one of the fastest growing regions of International but also the most efficient, significantly delivering on the commitment to be growth and profit additive to international. Parallel to this role, Dimitris served as General Manager of APL (global trading hub, corporate and shared services centre), where he orchestrated transforming its shared services and launching its redesigned office. Dimitris joined Alcon in 2015 as General Manager of Greece Cluster, then Head of Indirect Markets and then Vice President of Emerging Growth Markets, EMEA.
Select prior experience includes the design of Novartis Business Services and Africa Patient Access Program as Director of Corporate Strategy at Novartis, streamlining operations at Hygeia hospital group, and various organization and operations transformation projects while at the Boston Consulting Group.
He holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a Master's in Business Administration from Columbia University. Dimitris, his wife, and two kids live in Switzerland.
