Professor Ambos is a Chairholder and Professor of Strategic Management and the Director of the Institute of Management & Strategy (IoMS-HSG) at the University of St. Gallen. He earned his degree in business administration and a doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.) from the University of Hamburg and Florida State University, specializing in international management and organization. In 2006, he completed his habilitation at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU).
Before joining the University of St. Gallen, Professor Ambos held teaching and research positions at prestigious institutions, including the University of Edinburgh, the University of Hamburg, Bocconi University, Queen's University, Florida International University, and the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
